Western Mass Vipers

The Vipers were founded in 2013 to provide our kids the opportunity to play highly competitive hockey across MA, CT, and NY with the objective of preparing them for their HS seasons and beyond. We are a player and family-focused not-for-profit organization committed to competitive hockey, strong professional coaching, the development of each player and transparency to our members.  Our teams are run as financial collaboratives and we divide expenses equally among all players.  The Vipers are proud members of the Premier Hockey League of New England (PHLNE).   We complement our PHLNE league games with a strong independent schedule.

USA Hockey Confirmation Number

All players must obtain the 2023-2024 USA Hockey number.  A USA Hockey number can be purchased by visiting:

Once you have purchased your USA number please submit your number to the Vipers by clicking on the link below.

Vipers Announce Tryout Schedule for 2023

The 2023 Vipers tryout schedule is listed below.  The cost of the tryout is $60 plus $20 for a new Vipers Practice jersey. The $20 for the jersey is fully refundable (in cash) at the time the jersey is returned after the player's last tryout, or the player can keep the jersey with no refund. Please register at the link above.

Please note that the Vipers home ice in the fall is primarily at Lossone Rink on the Williston Campus in Easthampton and we will again skate out of Lossone this Fall.  Our spring ice is primarily at the Mullins Rink on the UMass Campus.  Because Lossone takes the ice out in early March, our tryouts are wherever ice is available. Thanks for a Successful 2022 Fall Season

By Jim Watkins 12/29/2022, 12:15pm EST

Thanks to our players and families for another successful fall season.  Our 14U, 15U, 16U and 18U teams all made the playoffs in the top division of the PHLNE.  The Vipers are the only organization in the league with a playoff team in each of those divisions.  Well done boys!   Best of luck to all in your HS seasons.  We'll see you in March for tryouts, followed by the Vipers Cup!
